Landmothers 2023: Recurring Donor Campaign

Landmothers are recurring donors who commit to donating $25 or more per month. This commitment sustains our work for the long haul, ensuring that The Land is available for women and girls – forever. You can also become eligible to establish Landmother status when you refer two new Landmothers. (See below for details.)

If you have found this page, it is likely that you are already familiar with The Land, and that it is important in your life, or it is important to someone you know. Maybe you loved the Michigan Womyn’s Music Festival (Michfest), held on The Land for 40 years, and are committed to securing The Land for future generations of festivals and gatherings for women and girls? Maybe you never made it to Michfest, but always wanted to? Maybe you spent time on The Land at one of the wonderful Summer Events in 2019, 2021 or 2022? Maybe you want to support women and girls, and you heard this is a great way to do that?

Whatever reasons brought you here, committing to a monthly recurring donation of $25, $50, $75 or more is the best way to ensure The Land’s availability to women and girls forever if you can. In addition, you can become a Landmother by referring two new donors who commit to a recurring donation of $25 or more. Plus, there are thank-you gifts!

  • Our annual recurring donor patch. This year’s patch features the starry night sky we see while we are on The Land. (All recurring donors, including Landmothers, will receive this gift.)
  • A special Landmothers donor patch featuring the Landmother logo. (All Landmothers will receive this gift.)
  • An embroidered pair of Landmother Tea Towels by our fern sister Penny Copper Libby for those who commit to a recurring donation between $25 – $49. (Level 1 – all Landmothers new to donating in this range will receive this gift.)
  • A Sterling Silver Landmother Pendant designed by Nedra Johnson for those who commit to a recurring donation between $50 – $74. (Level 2 – all Landmothers new to donating in this range will receive this gifts.)
  • A unique Landmother Turned Wooden Bowl by our fern sister Trace Ballard for those who commit to a recurring donation of $75 or more. (Level 3 – all Landmothers new to donating in this range will receive this gift.)
  • Donors in Levels 2 and 3 (who commit to a new monthly recurring donation of $50+ or $75+ respectively) can choose their thank-you gift from any of the choices offered at their new level or below.
  • Thank-you gifts not your thing? No worries – you can opt out completely if desired.

We are so thankful for your commitment to WWTLC!

  • Recurring donors who do not yet donate $25 a month can increase their donations to at least $25 and secure Landmother status, and will receive Level 1 thank-you gifts and patches.
  • Current Landmothers can maintain their status by continuing to donate at least $25 per month and will receive our recurring donor and Landmother patches.
  • Current Landmothers who increase their donation amount to the next level of donation ranges (e.g. from Level 1 to Level 2, or from Level 2 to Level 3) will become eligible for the thank-you gifts in the new corresponding level.
  • If you are already contributing $75 or more and now commit to raising your total donation by an additional $25, you will be eligible to choose any one of the thank-you gifts.

If you have additional questions, please email us at landmothers@wwtlc.org. We know this year has been difficult for many, and we so appreciate our Landmothers!

We value ALL of our community members – regardless of financial status. Again this year, if you are unable to give financially, there is still a pathway to become a Landmother! Our referral program will qualify you to be a Landmother if you recruit two or more new recurring donors to pledge $25 or more per month. The new donors must identify who referred them to become a Landmother when they set up their recurring donation – it cannot be attributed afterwards. While it is our hope that all Landmothers will continue to contribute until The Land is paid off in April 2025, we know that circumstances change. To that end, the new donors (“referees”) must continue to contribute to the Landmother campaign for at least six months for the referrer to be considered a Landmother. If you have questions about the referral program, please drop us at note at landmothers@wwtlc.org.

Why are recurring donations so important?

If we can achieve a monthly recurring donation income of $21,000, we will have a steady flow of income throughout the year that will allow us to afford The Land Payment, taxes and insurance annually, when combined with other fundraising efforts. It’s convenient to sign up and you can spread out your donations across twelve months of the year to make a bigger impact!

Important Dates to Remember

The Landmothers fundraising campaign will run through December 31, 2023. Thank-you gifts will be processed in July 2024 and delivered ASAP thereafter.

About the Landmothers Logo

Brass Prototype of Landmothers Pendant

Celtic Mother Daughter KnotThe Landmothers logo incorporates a combination of Celtic knots — one that symbolizes mother & child and the other known as a Triquetra.

The mother & child Celtic symbol depicts an unbreakable, never-ending bond of love and life. Traditionally, the Celtic Motherhood Knot consists of two hearts interlinked with no beginning or end. One heart is lower than the first and children are often denoted by a dot, heart or another symbol inside or outside the heart design.

The Triquetra holds different meanings for different people. The meaning that seemed significant for us comes from the Wiccan tradition. They see the three points of the Celtic Triquetra relating to the nature of the Goddess as mother, maiden and crone. The mother represents creation; the maiden represents innocence and the crone symbolizes wisdom.

Some see the meaning of the Triquetra as symbolizing the three domains of earth, sea and sky. Others say the three points signify the three stages of life: life, death and rebirth.

The Triquetra has also been found at several Celtic archaeological sites along with solar and lunar symbols, so it could have a meaning relating to the lunar and solar phases.

Infinity FernIn our symbol, you will note that the two bottom “points” of the Triquetra are replaced with an infinity symbol that is intersected by a fern. For our purposes, we see this symbolizing Landmothers — women who have taken on a particular level of responsibility towards insuring that The Land will be available for women and girls forever.

We Want the Land Coalition is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization. EIN 81-4997325. All donations are tax deductible, based on current IRS guidelines.
